What are your favorite mythical creatures?

So, I'm thinking about a new project... Involving a series of drawings depicting mythical creatures in various historical/normal situations. I know I'll be doing a centaur for sure, but I'm not sure about others.

What are your favorite mythical creatures? I'd prefer suggestions that are somewhat lesser known. Not dragons, unicorns, griffins, etc.
